One lucky girl

I'm trying to be more positive lately and to not let the day-to-day drudgery of parenting drag me down. Yesterday I ventured to Stop & Shop with the kids. They were great, but it was crazy. There was a lot of hopping out of the shopping cart, trying to push, grabbing things off the shelf, etc. Every parent has been there. As we were heading down one aisle, one elderly woman looked at the mayhem and stopped me. "You are one lucky girl," she said, and she kept walking.

At first, my cynical side thought she was being sarcastic, "Lucky you! Shopping with two little ones who can't sit still!" But I knew she was being genuine. I am lucky, I have two happy and healthy kids in my shopping cart, which I'm filling with (somewhat) nutritious food that we can afford. With all that's going on in the world, it doesn't get better than that.

I know there's been a lot written about old ladies stopping moms in the grocery store, I am grateful for this lady giving me such a nice reality check.
